Entertainment industry employment has rebounded after the 2023 Hollywood strikes but only a portion of the job losses has been recovered, according to the latest Otis College Report on the Creative Economy. Overall entertainment employment remains 25% below its 2022 peak according to the report, which also notes that the number of shooting days in Los Angeles County was down 42% in 2024 compared to 2022 amid industry contraction and a post-peak TV slowdown. Last year’s Otis College study reported a 17% drop in entertainment industry employment from April to October 2023 as a result of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, compounded by the ongoing TV contraction.
