Steve, who passed away in December 2023, had a tough childhood with his brother Clive, and as he revealed sadly in his candid autobiography If The Cap Fits, even a simple bacon sandwich was considered a 'luxury' he could not afford. Yet, he looked back on the experience with unexpected positivity, as the clean clothes and hot meals in prison were a stark improvement from his previous struggles. Emmerdale's producer Sophie Roper said: "We lost Steve recently, so we're going to be marking Zak's passing in the coming months with a Dingle funeral.
