Emmerdale cast ditches the Woolpack for woodland as actors mark 10,000th episode with huge new project - giving Gardeners' World a run for its money

Back in May, actors and production team members vowed to give back to the local environment by planting 60,000 trees.

The cast of Emmerdale ditched the iconic Woolpack for a day in the woodlands, in a bid to fulfil a pledge made in celebration of the soap's 10,000th episode (Mark Charnock who plays Marlon Dingle pictured) 'At Emmerdale, our Green Team — comprising representatives from various departments including Wardrobe, Cameras, Make-Up, and Sound, as well as cast members — meets monthly to integrate sustainability into our storylines and on-set practices. It will mean good news for soap's pooch Piper, after the series was criticised for sickening scenes as the rescue dog was abused by vet Tom in attempt to control wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
