Emma Stone Stresses That She's 'Fine' Not Being Called by Her Real Name: 'I Really Am'

'Poor Things' star Emma Stone previously revealed that another actress in the Screen Actors Guild guild was already using her birth name of Emily Stone when she began her acting career, and told TODAY's Craig Melvin: 'You can call me whatever you want.'

During an appearance on TODAY on Thursday, June 20, the Easy A alum clarified some questions about her name, after she revealed in May that she usually goes by "Emily" rather than "Emma" off-camera. Just a few weeks ago, while Stone made an appearance at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival to promote Kinds of Kindness — an upcoming dark comedy-thriller directed by her longtime friend and collaborator Yorgos Lanthimos — a reporter referred to her by her birth name of Emily. After being referred to by her birth name, Stone smiled and turned to Lanthimos, excitedly telling him, "That's my name!"
