Emily Henry Adapting ‘Funny Story’ Novel Into Feature Film With Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company
Funny Story marks the latest Emily Henry book getting an adaptation treatment, and Henry herself will write the movie version.
The story follows children’s librarian Daphne, who has just been broken up with by her fiancé Peter, who quickly moved on to his childhood best friend, Petra. Yulin Kuang, whose debut novel How to End a Love Story arrived in April 2024, will adapt and directEmily Henry ’s 2020 novel Beach Read, which began the author’s rom-com-writing streak. Lyrical Media and RPC collaborated on upcoming films like Adam Wingard’s Onslaught, Michael Sarnoski’s The Death of Robin Hood, which will star Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.
