Emily Blunt reveals how her two young daughters cry when they see her 'trapped and in peril' while onscreen and in character: 'They didn't like the underwater stuff'

Emily Blunt weighed in on how traumatizing it can be for her two daughters to watch her in a role where she's underwater or in some peril.

It appears their less-than-thrilled reaction to seeing their mother onscreen is universal no matter the genre of film, which includes her roles in such Disney productions as The Muppets (2011), Mary Poppins Returns (2018) and Jungle Cruise (2021). Blunt says her role in the fantasy adventure Jungle Cruise co-starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson seemed to traumatize her girls a little more than the rest due to dramatic close-quartered scenes shot underwater with their mum In the film, which is based on the Disney theme park ride of the same name, Blunt plays Dr. Lily Houghton, an eccentric, adventurous and virtuous botanist working in a male-dominated field, who professes she doesn't know how to swim.
