As Amy Poehler said before announcing John as the winner of the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) award, he’s “EGOT to be excited”. He scores his EGOT after Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium beat Chris Rock Selective Outrage, The Oscars, 75th Annual Tony Awards and The Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show Starring Rihanna in the category. Elton wasn’t present at the Emmys, apparently due to a recent knee operation, but his partner David Furnish was, and he was thanked by Ben Winston, who co-founded Fulwell 73, which produced the special, for his “creative vision”.
