For Hunt, it was not only a case of working through the character development with no long-held cultural connection to Radner, but also of honoring her in a way that resonated with all the SNL viewers who’ve loved her for so long. And the day of the casting, I walked from my place uptown to Flatiron where the audition was, listening to the Juno soundtrack because I just wanted some of the buoyancy and play of Jason’s material percolating in my head, even though this was going to be a completely different thing. And then, the day that Janine Thompson, the head of our hair department, put the wig on me for the first time, it was such a thrill that I literally grabbed her hands and looked up at her and giggled and then maybe cried.
