A number of factors no doubt contributed to that decline, including the fact that people were still largely under lockdowns due to COVID during the 2020 election. While it was largely expected that results from the election might take multiple days to be fully tabulated, former U.S. President Donald Trump was declared the winner in the early hours of Wednesday morning, winning multiple battleground states to clinch the 270 electoral votes needed to defeat his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
