EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Gyles Brandreth didn't kill Rod Hull... I did, admits former countess
Queen Camilla 's friend Gyles Brandreth hit the headlines last week when he claimed on his Rosebud podcast that he had 'killed' the comedian Rod Hull.
As their small group left the theatre to return by taxi to the Chelsea Arts Club, a waiting paparazzo snapped a photograph of the Countess and Hull, the last apparently ever taken of the comedian, and it appeared in a newspaper the next morning under a headline suggesting that she was his new girlfriend. This would be unlikely to make it past health-and-safety officials these days: Maxwell Caulfield has revealed that the makers of a 1967 film, Accident, tricked him and a fellow child actor, Carole Caplin, into falling over by secretly setting up a trip wire that sent them both 'flying'. 'I've arranged lessons with the guy who taught me the Charleston on the show,' the Channel 4 newsreader, 54, tells me at the gala night for Johannes Radebe: House of JoJo at the London Palladium.
