EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Former BBC newsreader Angela Rippon celebrated 80th in style with FOUR birthday parties
RICHARD EDEN: Angela Rippon, who stunned Strictly Come Dancing viewers with her jawdropping high kick, is just as enthusiastic when it comes to partying.
'I actually don't know what it's like to be 80 and I have no intention of finding out,' she tells me at her afternoon tea party at The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, west London, where she was joined by her Strictly partner Kai Widdrington. Prince Andrew's ex-wife wore a multi-coloured blouse and a pair of shades to a charity event whose theme was Palm Royale, the Apple TV+ drama set in 1960s Florida. Brought up in penury – thanks to a feckless father, who enjoyed a string of mistresses – he became one of our best loved actors, appearing in 130 films while remaining devoted to his wife, Rosemary, with whom he had seven children, 35 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
