EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison says she's 'been in complete agony' as she thanks NHS staff after hospital dash

The former EastEnders star, 58, took to her Instagram on Sunday to share a video telling her followers she had spent the last 24 hours in A&E.

After she was announced as the new host, This Morning star Alison said: 'I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series, but if I can continue to shine a light on the brilliant work done at Battersea and help to tell the stories of these beautiful dogs, then it will be an absolute privilege to give it my all. 'I can't wait to share the joy of their searches for new, loving, forever homes and hopefully make lots of furry friends of my own along the way.' Cheryl came to fame playing loveable Heather Trott on EastEnders for five years, before being viciously killed by Ben Mitchell in 2012 (pictured on soap)
