EastEnders fans think they know why Zoe Slater has returned to London after she was seen desperately trying to avoid her mum Kat Slater in Wednesday night's episode
Under the guise of being pursued by Spanish loan sharks, she reached out to her cousin Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), a ruse she maintained upon the arrival of step-father Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). The loan sharks intensified their threats, but just as Alfie was about to hand over the money, Stacey made a shocking discovery - Zoe had been sending the threatening messages to herself, reports Belfast Live. During Wednesday's (June 18) episode, Zoe hid in the bedroom while Alfie concocted a convoluted lie about being contacted by an emotional Stacey, who didn't want to burden her family with her grief over her late husband Martin Fowler (James Bye).
