DVLA's new car tax changes are now in force and they could cost you more
The changes affect new standard rates, fresh taxes for electric vehicles (EVs) and increased levies on other vehicles. Here's what you need to know
Richard Evans, head of technical services at Webuyanycar, has provided a glimmer of hope for those affected by the increased costs, stating that EV owners can still enjoy relatively modest rates. For instance, anyone indulging in a new luxury or high-performance vehicle after April 1 will be slapped with a substantial road tax bill if their chosen model is in the highest emissions category, reports the Mirror. The £10 annual discount on the standard rate road tax for alternative fuel vehicles, including hybrid, bioethanol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cars will be discontinued from April 1.
