Duchess Sophie even closer to Kate Middleton in 'empowering' new role
The Duchess of Edinburgh has been announced as the new Patron of Girlguiding, a role which sees her following in the late Queen's footsteps, and brings her even closer to the Princess of Wales

On the new appointment, Tracy Foster, Chief Guide, Girlguiding said: “We are delighted and honoured to announce Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh as our new patron. During a 2019 visit to the Scouts' headquarters, the Princess spoke warmly of her hopes that her young children would follow in her footsteps and join the community.
