Thr sharp comeback was first shared in Katie Nicholl's 2022 book, The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth's Legacy and the Future of the Crown. This approach seems to have worked well for Sophie, who joined the Royal Family in June 1999 when she married Queen Elizabeth II's youngest son, Prince Edward. Sophie stopped working outside the Royal Family in 2001 when she called the late Queen an "old dear" in an interview with a reporter pretending to be a sheikh who she thought was a potential client.
