Donald Trump Asks Supreme Court To Stop Sentencing For Hush Money Case Conviction
Trump filed for an emergency stay late Tuesday.
They also want to justices to determine whether some of the evidence presented at the hush money trial should have been barred from the case, arguing that they were official acts. Last year, in another case brought by Trump, the Supreme Court ruled that presidents are immune from criminal prosecution for their official acts while in office. Last week, New York Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump’s sentencing, rejecting his legal team’s arguments that he was immune from prosecution.
