Early in Netflix’s thriller “ Rebel Ridge,” Marine veteran Terry Richmond ( Aaron Pierre) rides his bicycle to the Shelby Springs police station and waits on the front steps to report a crime. Like Terry, Pierre’s presence is undeniable in “Rebel Ridge,” a bruising indictment of the corruption and prejudice that still grips small towns and their citizens through the agencies meant to protect them. Even when his cousin and his new ally, Summer (AnnaSophia Robb), are threatened, Pierre never lets go of the grounding restraint of that man who sat outside the police station simply asking to be heard.
