His CNN ouster came a little over two months after he apologized for on-air comments about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley being past her prime. Chris Licht, then chairman and CEO of CNN Worldwide, called Lemon ‘s comments on women “unacceptable.” He took several days off the show before apologizing and agreeing to participate in formal training. Lemon was at times outspoken and even polarizing in that role, but it was a different era for the network under then-CEO Jeff Zucker.
