Doechii Says She’s ‘Disgusted’ By LGBTQphobia In GLAAD Media Awards Acceptance Speech
Doechii said she's "disgusted" by the lack of inclusion and acceptance she sees in America in speech after winning GLAAD Media Award.
“Those are the same things I strongly believe in and advocate for and that continue to propel me forward — especially now that hard-won cultural change and rights for transgender people and the LGBTQ community have been threatened,” she said. Elsewhere in the speech, Doechii credited previous outstanding music artist winners, noting, “I am thrilled at being recognized with such a prestigious award by GLAAD and to be joining prior honorees such as Renee [Rapp], Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X, Sam Smith and Janelle Monáe,” adding, “This is a huge and special moment as well because GLAAD is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, which is super fab.” The GLAAD award is just the latest hardware for Doechii, who won a Best Rap Album Grammy for Alligator Bites Never Heal and was recently named Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year.
