Doctor charged in connection with Matthew Perry's death pleads guilty

Dr Mark Chavez is one of five people who have been charged over the Friends star's death - and the third to plead guilty.

Chavez, Fleming and Iwamasa were offered lesser charges in exchange for their cooperation as prosecutors go after their main targets in the case - Plasencia and Sangha. Plasencia has been charged with illegally selling ketamine to Perry in the month before his death while Sangha is alleged to be a dealer who sold the actor the lethal dose. US Attorney Martin Estrada said in announcing the charges on 15 August that "the doctors preyed on Perry's history of addiction in the final months of his life last year to provide him with ketamine in amounts they knew were dangerous".
