China Anne McClain has come under fire for touching a sea turtle. Hawaii Governor Josh Green told the actress to 'educate yourself' and 'do better' following a video she shared of her petting the animal, which prompted online backlash.

The Disney star, 26, recently posted a video of herself on vacation in Hawaii, where she was pictured petted a sleeping sea turtle while her sister, Sierra, filmed the interaction. Sierra added, "We have an immense amount of respect for the residents of Hawai'i and their intent to safeguard their land & their wildlife, and we plan to take the necessary precautions in the future when traveling." In an apology video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, March 5, McClain shared that the initial clip was a few years old, and she didn't realize touching the turtles was "not something you're supposed to be doing."
