Did 'Miller's Girl' Sex Scene Cause Stricter Rules for Intimacy Coordinators?
Intimacy coordinators received stricter guidelines from SAG-AFTRA after Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman's movie 'Miller's Girl' made headlines
“Intimacy coordinators are a crucial resource on any set to ensure the protection of our members working in intimate scenes,” a SAG-AFTRA spokesperson told Deadline on Friday, February 23. In the film, Ortega plays a promising high school student named Cairo who initially forms a friendly connection with her English teacher Jonathan Miller (Freeman). Intimacy coordinator Kristina Arjona defended the scene, telling the Daily Mail last month, “There [were] many, many people throughout this process engaging with [Jenna] to make sure that it was consistent with what she was comfortable with, and she was very determined and very sure of what she wanted to do.”
