The gala on Thursday night at New York City’s Chelsea Piers raised $1.5 million to support Family Equality’s work to advance legal and lived equality for LGBTQ+ families nationwide. Untitled Entertainment founding partner Jason Weinberg and his screenwriter husband Merritt Johnson received the Luigi Caiola Luminary Award. The event also celebrated a decade of marriage equality with Jim Obergefell, the lead plaintiff in the historic 2015 U.S. Supreme Court case that secured the right to marry for millions of Americans.
