Demi Moore Reflects on the Evolution of Ageism for Women in Hollywood: ‘There Was Shame Attached to Being Sexual’


Demi Moore details playing Ann Woodward in Ryan Murphy's 'Feud' and the evolution of ageism for women in Hollywood.

Moore first dove into Laurence Leamer’s 2023 book that the series was based on to learn more about Woodward, determined to make sure her portrayal was accurate — and that she knew what really happened. Luckily, being on set with “powerhouse” women like Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Jessica Lange and Molly Ringwald, Moore felt the opposite. That last part is extremely important; Watts recently shared that she was once told her career would be “over” at age 40 because that’s when you become “unfuckable.” Luckily, the industry has improved for women … sort of.
