Demi Lovato Lines Up Drew Barrymore, JoJo Siwa, More for ‘Child Star’ Doc (Exclusive)

Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné and 'Camp Rock' co-star Alyson Stoner also feature prominently in Lovato’s directorial debut, which rolls out on Hulu Sept. 17.

The former child star is making her directorial debut with a buzzy documentary for Hulu, which is owned by the company that famously launched Lovato’s career. “I’m so proud to make my directorial debut with this documentary that sheds light on the complexities of child stardom, a topic that is very close to my heart,” Lovato said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. Nicola Marsh, who serves as Lovato’s co-director on the project, brought a different skillset, having helmed prior docs including Netflix’s Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story.
