David Seidler, Oscar-Winning ‘The King’s Speech’ Writer, Dies at 86
'The King's Speech' won best picture, best director, best actor and best original screenplay at the 2011 Academy Awards.
When George’s brother abdicated the throne in 1936, Logue helped the king prepare for his first wartime radio message after the start of World War II. Seidler’s other writing included Francis Ford Coppola’s Tucker: The Man and his Dream(1988), animated children’s features Madeline: Lost in Paris(1999) and Quest for Camelot(1998). Per Aghassi, Seidler had remained passionate about screenwriting and had multiple documentaries, limited series and feature films in development at the time of his death.
