David Foster Reveals Why Son Rennie, 3, Is 'Taking a Break' from Drumming: 'You Can't Push Them' (Exclusive)
David Foster and Katharine McPhee Foster's son Rennie, 3, proved to be a savant on the sticks when a video of his insane drumming skills went viral in February, but his songwriter dad tells PEOPLE he's on hiatus.
Despite the toddler being unmic'ed and just banging along while Foster's drummer JR Robinson was actually playing, it was obvious Rennie was an incredibly skilled prodigy. Foster, a longtime songwriter and producer has won 16 Grammys, been nominated for 47, and is the genius behind massive hits like St. Elmo's Fire,You're the Inspiration, and The Glory of Love. McPhee Foster, 40, rose to fame as the runner-up on season 5 of American Idol and is also an accomplished singer who has recorded five albums and been a Broadway mainstay in the show Waitress.
