Dave Hughes reveals gruesome details behind surfing accident which almost saw him 'drown' on New Years Eve: 'I was on the beach for an hour crying'

Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes has opened up about his 'tragic' surfing accident at Surfers Paradise on New Years Eve which saw him rushed to hospital with a severe injury.

Now the radio host has revealed the gruesome details of the horrendous Gold Coast incident on his 2DayFm Breakfast show Hughesy, Ed & Erin. 'I didn't listen properly,' the media personality said, revealing he instead fell forward which led to his 'too big' board smashing into his back and dislocating his shoulder. Alongside the caption, Hughesy shared several dramatic images of the aftermath of the accident which saw him hunched over with his arm in a sling while inhaling the famous 'green whistle' - which contains the powerful analgesic Penthrox.
