Dario Argento’s ‘Deep Red’ Puppet Resurrected by Mutant Collectibles (EXCLUSIVE)
Collectibles company Mutant is releasing the Mad Puppet from Dario Argento’s “Deep Red” along with a 45 featuring two themes from the horror film.
The follow up to Argento’s “animal trilogy” — “The Bird With the Crystal Plumage,” The Cat o’ Nine Tails” and “Four Flies on Grey Velvet” — “Deep Red” (also known in Italy as “Profundo Rosso”) further cemented the popularity of both the Italian filmmaker and the “giallo” crime thriller genre. In the film, David Hemmings plays a musician investigating a strong of murders by a black-gloved killer — a giallo hallmark — opposite Argento’s frequent lead actress and creative collaborator Daria Nicolodi. “We are thrilled to be diving into the world of collectables with our friends and partners at Unbox Industries and are honoured to start with an official Dario Argento piece,” said Mutant co-founder Spencer Hickman in a statement.
