Danny Boyle: I was scared Geordie accents would ruin 28 Years Later
Oscar-winning director said his team was ‘neurotically nervous’ about how US audiences would respond to the dialect — and was delighted when they didn’t mind

The third instalment, on general release from Friday and which reunites Boyle with screenwriter Alex Garland, is set to be followed by 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple which is due to mark Murphy’s return to the horror film franchise. Liverpool-born Comer, 32, was described as having “a note-perfect Geordie” accent by The Times critic in her role as a member of a fortified community on Holy Island — with zombies an ever-present threat across the tidal causeway.
