Dancing On Ice axed by ITV after 19 years following 'lowest ratings ever'

Dancing on Ice has been axed by ITV after 19 years and 17 series, meaning that Holly Willoughby no longer has any programmes with the broadcaster for the first time since 2004

This comes after insiders at the channel confided to the Mirror that the Sunday night favourite might be axed following a slump to its lowest ratings ever, a stark contrast to its glory days of 12 million viewers. ITV also shells out hefty fees for presenters Holly and Stephen, the 12 professional ice-skaters, and the four judges - including ice-skating legends Torvill and Dean, former Strictly star Oti Mabuse, and dance expert Ashley Banjo. The popular show first hit our screens in 2006 but came to a halt after its ninth season in 2014, when Torvill and Dean decided to bow out "on a high" following the 30th anniversary of their iconic Bolero win.
