Dan Lin Reorganizes Netflix Film Group by Genre, Minor Layoffs Underway
Netflix's film division is being re-organized under Dan Lin. About 15 staffers are being let go, and Lin will replace them in the coming weeks.
While about 15 staffers are being let go, the re-organization does not represent a reduction in force — Lin will replace the departing executives in the coming weeks as part of his new vision for his group, which will now be split up by genre. Lin is best known for producing the “Lego” film franchise, Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of Stephen King’s “It” and Disney’s “Aladdin” remake through his production company Rideback. “While I’ve been approached many times during my past 15 years at Rideback, I could truly never imagine leaving until Bela reached out with this incredible opportunity,” Lin said in a statement.
