Damon Lindelof admits The Leftovers wasn't accessible for everyone: 'Stop f---ing watching'
'The Leftovers' co-creator Damon Lindelof admits the HBO show wasn't super accessible to a wide audience: 'The first season, in many ways, is like, 'Stop f---ing watching.''
The supernatural series, co-created by Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, who wrote the novel it was based on, opened with a bleak premise: How would humanity cope after 2% of the world’s population mysteriously disappeared all at once? Each season was set in a new location — New York, Texas, and Australia — but followed the same main cast that included Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, Margaret Qualley, Liv Tyler, Amy Brenneman, and Christopher Eccleston. Dowd and Brenneman, meanwhile, discussed the gamble of taking on roles that were silent in the beginning, as both played characters who were members of the Guilty Remnant — a cult who wore all white and didn’t speak.
