Daddy Yankee Seeks to Dissolve Companies With Ex-Wife After Contentious Divorce

Daddy Yankee has filed a petition in Puerto Rico to dissolve several companies co-owned with his ex-wife, Mireddys González Castellanos.

A statement from the reps of the reggaeton star — real name Ramón Ayala Rodríguez — cited “deep personal differences” as the reason for dissolving the companies, as well as “a complete lack of communication and information, which makes it impossible to continue any joint commercial operations.” Rodríguez’s lawyers have asked the court to close these “longstanding business affairs in a structured and legal manner, as there is no longer a foundation of trust or communication to support them,” per the statement. He accused them of improperly withdrawing $100 million from his companies’ bank accounts, and hiding or destroying documents related to several business ventures (including uncashed checks from royalty payments that are now worthless because of expiration dates).
