Cynthia Erivo Reflects on Blasting Fan-Made Wicked Poster: 'I Probably Should Have Called My Friends'

Cynthia Erivo said she had "a human moment of wanting to protect little Elphaba" when she criticized a viral fan-edited 'Wicked' movie poster on Instagram. "I probably should have called my friends, but it's fine," she said.

As Erivo, 37, and fashion designer Zac Posen spoke with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday, Oct. 28, the actress and singer explained that she is "really protective" of her role as Elphaba in Wicked when asked why she decided to speak out about the viral poster. I am a real life human being, who chose to look right down the barrel of the camera to you, the viewer ... because, without words we communicate with our eyes." "This is something that is so much bigger than us, and the fans are gonna have fun and make their edits," Grande, 31, said during that event.
