Cynthia Erivo Reacts to Out100 Honor
Earlier this week, Cynthia Erivo was honored with the Icon of the Year award at the Out100 celebration in Hollywood. Of the honor, Erivo shared, “I was trying to sort of put into words what it meant to be named an icon and it just means a great deal. It feel like it has given me the encouragement to do more work and just try to keep growing as a person who can help and do good things.” Cynthia felt it was “very important” to use her voice to advocate equality. She noted, “I think that the more people see someone like me confident enough to use my voice to keep sharing stories that we have and in different variations of our lives that we live, the more people will feel comfortable to share their own.” Erivo joined other big names to receive the award including Brandi Carlile, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey.
