In January 2022, Swift got into a social media argument with musician Damon Albarn after he claimed she shouldn’t call herself a songwriter if she isn’t the only creative credited on a track. In a clip obtained by TMZ in December 2015, Leto began by complementing Swift’s verse in “Blank Space” — but then threw shade at the pop star. Taylor Swift started writing songs about love and breakups in the early 2000s, but her talent was soon recognized by music executives who knew she was the real deal.
