The Tabanan Police Public Relations Chief Gusti Made Berata detailed the couple’s trajectory in a press release: According to local police reports, Giancarlo was attempting to take a selfie with Ilaria with the waterfall in the background when the fence they were leaning on gave out, sending them plummeting over 82 feet down the fall. Local outlet La Stampa reported Ilaria miraculously survived the fall and was aided by good samaritan Sokoliuk Viktoria, who was staying at the villa at the time, before being rushed to the Baturiti Health Center in Tabanan.
