Could Robert Downey Jr. RETURN as Iron Man? Avengers directors speak out after the actor said he would 'happily' reprise his iconic role


The directors worked with the 59-year-old actor in several entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his character was killed off at the end of the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame.

Filmmaking duo Anthony and Joseph Russo spoke about the possibility of bringing Robert Downey Jr. back to fill his old role as Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, during a new interview with Gamesradar+. The directors worked with the 59-year-old actor in several entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his character was killed off at the end of the 2019 blockbuster hit Avengers: Endgame. Feige shot down the idea of Downey Jr. reprising his old role during an interview with Vanity Fair, where he stated that Marvel Studio's creative team felt as if the conclusion of Iron Man's story provided a satisfying end for the character.
