Coronation Street's newest star Vicky Myers reveals she faced down cancer battle and divorce on the way to getting her 'dream' role on the soap: 'I am so proud to be here'
The actress, 48, has appeared on the soap as four different characters, but has now finally become a regular character.
Speaking to The Mirror, she revealed that while taking her nephew for a check-up, a doctor noticed a suspicious mark on her leg, that turned out to be skin cancer. Thankfully she recovered, but Vicky said that she then decided to give up on acting after a slew of rejections, saying: 'I felt financially, mentally and physically I needed a break just to breathe.' When my husband and I split up, I was quite down, bitter and vengeful, and when I was told I had [cancer], I remember thinking, "If this is it for me, I’ve missed out on all this time with my daughter and I haven’t really been the best person that I wanted to be."
