Coronation Street's Gail Platt's fate revealed as star gets set to leave show after 50 years
Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod has confirmed Gail Platt will be given a "happy ending" when she leaves the ITV soap, but her departure will still cause "explosive drama"
The soap's executive producer Iain MacLeod spilled the beans to the Daily Star's Hot TV column, saying: "Gail won't die. Iain also hinted that Gail's departure will have a huge impact on her family, including her children Sarah and David, stirring up emotions and drama in true Corrie fashion, reports the Mirror.
