Coronation Street's Gail Platt 'reunites with former lover' in plans for her exit
In an emotional reveal, Coronation Street legend Helen Worth has announced her departure from her iconic role as Gail Platt after an incredible 50 years on the show. Since her first appearance in 1974, Helen's character has been at the heart of some of the most unforgettable storylines on the cobbles.
While there were whispers that Gail might meet a grim fate at the hands of the menacing Joel Deering(portrayed by Calum Lill), who attacked teenager Lauren Bolton(played by Cait Fitton), insiders suggest a different twist is in store for her exit. A source told The Sun that Corrie's producers are keen on giving Gail a send-off filled with joy, potentially setting the stage for the return of her former flame Martin Platt, brought to life by Sean Wilson. The insider revealed to the newspaper: "A number of options were considered for Gail's departure from the cobbles but bosses knew the moment needed to truly celebrate one of Corrie's most iconic characters as well as honour Helen's astonishing run on the soap."
