Coronation Street veteran unrecognisable as they detail secret life as ‘high-functioning alcoholic’

The beloved actor - who now also runs a few pubs - says he realised his drinking was becoming 'more and more secretive' and he ended admitting he was a high-functioning alcoholic

His personal battle and newfound knowledge have now fuelled his latest creative venture, a play titled Husk, showing at the Hope Mill Theatre in Ancoats. Once Rupert decided to quit alcohol for good, he initially kept his struggle private due to the stigma attached to such battles, especially in his profession: "I'd read so much and I kind of convinced myself I no longer wanted this thing in my life. Rupert has taken over The Lloyds pub with Jonny Booth in Chorlton (Image: Subnmitted)"It is a revenge thriller which plays out over several timelines and will hopefully leave the audience guessing right up until the end as to what has exactly happened to these characters.
