Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver insists the world is her oyster now she has entered her sixties as she admits she finally feels 'free' after years of alcohol dependency

'She may not have as many waifs and strays as the TV Eileen, and she may not be fitting as many people into her very small little terraced house, but I think she’s recognisable as a woman who’s faced a lot – a single mother, dealing with what life throws at her, and not only managing, but thriving in a way.' Recalling a wild night out for her on screen son, Ryan Thomas' 21st birthday she told of how 'a quiet drink' ended with her breaking into her dressing room in the early hours. Sue explained: 'It made total sense to me to head straight from the party to the studios nearby and sneak into my dressing room and sleep until my make-up call.'
