Coronation Street star died at 39 leaving two children – with tragic reason for death

Actress Melanie Hughes, who starred in Coronation Street and Cold Feet, died aged just 39 back in October 2017 – with an inquest revealing her tragic cause of death

Substance misuse worker Kelly Wilson told the inquest: "Melanie really was in a terrible state and there were times when even you couldn't help her," Mr Hughes expressed in a statement that he felt his wife had been failed by the agencies meant to assist her. Mel had transitioned from her acting career, with minor roles in shows like Corrie and Cold Feet, to a longstanding position at the energy conservation company Kingspan in Greenfield. We had a holiday of a lifetime two months ago in Disney World Florida and my family and I am so glad we did as that has so many pictures with so many memories."
