Coronation Street star Peter Adamson was a household name after 23 years as Len Fairclough on the ITV soap - but he died on benefits after his career hit the rocks
In a decision that sparked controversy, he sold his story to The Sun whilst heavily intoxicated and seemingly confessed to the allegations in an erratic interview: "I am totally guilty of everything the police said. After earning an annual salary of £10,000 from Corrie - which would equate to about £190,000 today - financial hardships led him to spend his final days in a rented flat, dependent on state benefits for survival as work opportunities vanished.
