Actress Helen Worth has delivered a heartbreaking goodbye message after announcing that she has quit her role in Coronation Street after five decades. She also appeared in an episode of Doctor Who in 1971 and the drama Within These Walls before she won the role of Gail Platt in Coronation Street in 1974 when she was 23, although her character was meant to be 16 at the time.
