Coronation Street fans were left divided this evening as Eileen Grimshaw left the cobbles after 25 years with some viewers blasting Sue Cleaver's "dreadful" exit

As a show of respect, Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and the other taxi drivers lined up their cabs on the street, honking their horns and saluting her as she waved from the window. A pleased viewer tweeted: "Wow todays episode of Corrie had me happy crying what an ending for an iconic character," and another enjoyed the small details: "Loved how all the taxis lined the street to wave eileen off.
