Coronation Street and Emmerdale have performed exceptionally well this year, with both soaps undergoing a huge change last year, and it seems like things have paid off
Fast forward to now, Coronation Street and Emmerdale have racked up an impressive 124 million streams in the first quarter of 2025 alone, contributing to ITVX's whopping one billion total. The soap has already aired many hard hitting storylines this yearCurrently, Emmerdale delights fans from Monday to Friday at 7.30pm, including a one-hour special on Thursdays, whereas Coronation Street lights up our evenings three times a week at 8pm with hour-long episodes. This strategic move has been coined the "soap power hour" by ITV's bigwig Kevin Lygo, who also revealed that the savings from this change will be funnelled into other programming ventures.
